MOLTING
Molting
Installation
Variable dimensions
As we grow upward, we are already preparing to fall. Growth is inseparable from the process of shedding. This installation is composed entirely of organic materials, symbolizing the way organic life spirals upward in continuous motion. Melted wax, mingled with shattered petals, drips downward in winding trails—traces of transformation that accompany every stage of evolution.
The installation is arranged in the manner of an altar, evoking a sense of ritual. The subtle scent of soy wax and flowers fills the space, inviting viewers to experience the quiet resonance of life as it grows, transforms, and releases.
TRACES OF BLOOMS
Traces of Blooms
Series of work
This work employs the natural pigments of fresh flowers, transferred onto paper through an act of hammering—a visceral gesture that merges violence and creation. The process, while extracting color, simultaneously enacts the destruction of fragile life. The hammer strike becomes a cathartic release, a physical expression of force and loss.
As time passes, the imprinted pigments begin to fade through oxidation, echoing the transient nature of existence. The ephemeral bloom of a flower becomes a metaphor for the cyclical rhythm of life and death. Through the act of destruction, traces are left behind—residues of a once-vibrant life—that paradoxically outlast the original form. Yet even these marks are not immune to time; their gradual disappearance speaks to the inevitability of decay, memory, and impermanence.

This body of work is a series of still life installations inspired by the concept of Vanitas. Through studying Vanitas and distilling its symbolic elements, I created this installation as a reflection on time—a subject that deeply captivates me. Both in life and in my artistic practice, I am drawn to things that are inevitably altered by the passage of time. The temporality of objects—how they bear, reveal, and respond to time—is a quality that fascinates me profoundly. Traditional Vanitas works often portray earthly objects to express the fleeting nature of life and the futility of worldly pursuits. At their core, they serve as a memento mori, reminding us of our mortality. This message resonates with my own philosophy: an acute awareness of impermanence that encourages presence and attentiveness to the now.
